Just in time! Busy fundraising! Posted below are my three entries into the Don't Touch That DSLR challenge at Two Photogs. I am LOVING all those posts using the magnificent iPhone! I don't have one so I borrowed my daughter's Canon Powershot, which I am surprised even works with the number of times it has hit the floor! I wanted to capture some of that beautiful frost we have been having here in Calgary, Alberta. Here you go...

Guilty Pleasures

Another challenge has been posted by the Two Photogs, Brandy Anderson and Danna Bowes. This time the challenge is to create a self portrait that incorporates your favourite guilty pleasure. Well, one of my pleasures in life is scrapbooking as this is often where my creative juices get flowing. Having said that my favourite guilty pleasure is all those little scrapbooking embellishments from brads to eyelets to ribbon to paper to...well you get the idea...all sorts of embellishments. I can't go anywhere without picking up something to scrap with! When I read about this challenge I knew right away what I wanted to do. I knew my picture had to be about scrapbooking embellishments and what would be better than to display that on a scrapbooking page! Now, I have never scrapbooked digitally so this was a totally new experience for me and I have only recently been dabbling into the inner working of Photoshop so this exercise stretched my skills and I learnt a ton! How fun! Oh and thank goodness for tripods!

Brandy Anderson and Danna Bowes are generously giving away, to the winner of this challenge, one spot in their upcoming mentoring program. I dream of one day starting up my own lifestyle photography business and I am certainly ready to learn and take my photography to a whole new level so that I can begin to build my portfolio and business (hopefully)! Those introductory courses are just not cutting it anymore and I would be so very grateful to win an opportunity to be mentored by these ladies. As a stay at home mom the finances are always a bit tight.

Okay...before I post my creation I want to add that everything, except for the typed fonts and artistic brushed elements (stitches), was photographed...yes, I even photographed the paper I used and taped flower to my hair...which my daughter thought was hilarious!
So here is hoping...

Colour Challenge

Other than my family, photography is my passion. For some time now I have been working towards improving my photography, first, for my own personal use, second, for my family and friends, and third to possibly explore a new career path one day (perhaps). In my quest to improve my photography skills I came upon the website Two Photogs which is authored by Danna Bowes of Bowes Photography and Brandy Anderson of Fresh Sugar Photography, two super talented photographers. These ladies note that the purpose of their newest website is to "reach out to photographers," "stretch creatively," and launch "mentoring"...so yup, I am inspired. Thus I have decided that I will be a frequent subscriber and take their challenges head on in hope that through their challenges I will learn and ultimately improve my own work! Alas, I am even creating new challenges for myself by entering into the world of blogging!

My first assignment for Two Photogs was to create a creative colour collage, I chose orange...
